These two pictures show how I organize my scraps. More info later in the post!
Now on to my card made from scraps for the Scrap-tastic Challenge on Capture the Moment!I made this card this afternoon and hadn't even looked at Nicholle's challenge yet but I MUST have been psychic!!! Everything on this card is from scraps except the black gemstones from PTI!!! And to top it all off - I made the flower from the front cover of my Family Circle Magazine that had smiley faces on it! I LOVE how it turned out!
Here's a close-up of my flower. I cut out two sizes of the nestabilities blossom die-cut, crumpled them up, smooshed them around, poked a hole in the center, and put that beautiful brad in to hold it all together. I cut out the sentiment and the leaves from PTI True Black scraps.
My tips - I organize my scraps in a couple of ways but it really works for me. I have hanging files in my main desk drawer that I organize by color. I put all of my leftovers in the files. Then when I need a small piece of, let's say black, I go in the black file and find what I want. I put all of my patterned scraps in one file and sometimes this leads to mixing and matching pieces I never would have thought about before.
I also have a photo box that I use to put paper folded into cards or paper that I have cut into 4 x 5 scraps to use on a card front. Sometimes I have embossed it and sometimes it is plain.
(Pics Above) - I also use the boxes that my PTI stamps come in for other scraps. For example I have a box for words (like the Thanks I used on this card). I have boxes for ribbon bits, labels, butterflies, flowers - you name a category and I have a box with those items grouped together. It's hard for me to throw anything away! I have even made cards with the paper band that comes on the PTI stamp sets!!! Recycling at it's best! I hope you enjoy my card!
RECIPE:
Paper - PTI White, PTI True Black, PTI Lemon Tart, Lace paper - stash, Flower paper - Family Circle Magazine Cover
Die Cuts - SU - leaf, Spellbinder's Nestabilities Blossom
Embossing Folder - QuicKutz Retro Diamonds
Bling - PTI Black Rhinestones (LOVE them!!!)
Brad - Paper Studios Spare Parts Flower Brads Assorted Black
